Trump Rates live updates: the United States ‘strongest’ despite the turbulence of the market, says Trump

President Donald Trump said the United States trade deficit with China must first be resolved before considering an agreement on their radical tariffs against the country.

“We have a commercial deficit of billion dollars with China, hundreds of billions of dollars a year that we lose with China. And unless we solve that problem, I will not reach an agreement,” the president told the journalists of Air Force One on Sunday.

“Now, I am willing to deal with China, but they have to solve their surplus. We have a tremendous deficit problem with China. They have a surplus of at least one billion dollars a year. I think it’s like a billion one, and I want that to resolve,” Trump said.

The president also argued with journalists that Tiktok’s agreement was in Limbo, saying that China did not approve the agreement due to tariffs in the country.

“The report is that we had an agreement, more or less for Tiktok, not an agreement, but quite close and then China changed the agreement due to tariffs. If it gave a little rates, it approved that agreement in 15 minutes, which shows the power of the tariffs,” Trump said.
