Helicopter clash from New York City: the authorities are looking for answers after 6 dead

An investigation is underway in the helicopter accident that killed six people, including a family of Spanish tourists, when the ship immersed itself in the Hudson River in New York City on Thursday.

During the night, the recovery teams began to raise the remains of Hudson with the investigation that is already underway.

The investigation is being directed by the Jersey City Police Department, said the mayor of the city of Jersey, Steven Fulop, to ABC News, with the participation of the National Transport Security Board.

The Siemens executive, Agustin Escobar, his wife, Merce Camprubi Montal, and his children, 4, 5 and 11, have been identified as victims in the accident. Also murdered he was the 36 -year -old pilot, sources of application of the law to ABC News said. The pilot has not yet been publicly identified.

The Chopper, which was operated by the New York helicopter tours company, fell to the Hudson River for Bajo Manhattan in New York City on Thursday afternoon, authorities said during a press conference.

“We are devastated,” said a company representative to ABC News. “My staff has not stopped crying.”

The accident occurred at 3:17 pm on the coast of River Drive in Hoboken, New Jersey, just over 15 minutes after he left Wall St. Helipport. The helicopter arrived at the George Washington bridge before turning south and crashing, the authorities said during the informative session.

The helicopter, identified by the Federal Aviation Administration as Bell 206 helicopter, was on his sixth flight of the day. It was found upside down in the 50 degree water when rescuers arrived at the scene, which was closer to the New Jersey side of the Hudson River, according to the sources.

The shock video showed that the helicopter immersed himself in the water without a tail rotor or a blade of the main rotor. The authorities said he hit the inverted water.

New York police commissioner Jessica Tisch told journalists that four victims were declared dead at the scene. Two others later succumbed to their wounds, he said.

Jersey City Medical Center, where passengers were transported after the accident, tried as stronger to save the injured, Fulop told ABC News.

Fulop said the city has had concerns about air traffic about Hudson before and expects this to provide more attention to its security concerns.

“Our hearts are with the family and on board,” said the mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, during Thursday’s informative session.

President Donald Trump went to his social networks platform on Thursday night, calling the “terrible” accident and saying that the images of the accident are “horrendous”.

The Spanish prime minister, Pedro Sánchez, told X that the news was “devastating.” He added: “Five Spaniards of the same family, three of them children and the pilot have lost their lives. An unimaginable tragedy.”

Dani Horbiak told ABC News that he saw the helicopter “fall from the sky” from the window of his apartment.

“I heard five or six strong noises that sounded almost like shots in the sky and I saw that the pieces fell, then I saw him fall into the river,” he said.

“It was happening and the helicopter fell at an angle of 45 degrees,” Eric Campoverde told ABC News. “Great splash, I was very afraid.”

“It sounded like a sonic boom,” a witness told the ABC station in New York Wabc. He said he saw the “helicopter divided into two with the rotor flying.”

Another witness told Wabc: “A propeller broke into pieces.”
